Topics Covered.
1.
Philosophy
As you embark on your study of yoga philosophy, you can expect to dive deep into the rich insights that lie at the heart of this ancient practice. You'll explore key texts like the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, discovering ethical principles and concepts of self-awareness that will not only deepen your personal practice but also enhance your understanding of life itself. This philosophical journey will empower you to cultivate mindfulness and balance within yourself, and as you embody these teachings, you'll be better equipped to share them with your future students. Embracing this knowledge will allow you to teach with authenticity and compassion, guiding others on their own unique paths with a nuanced understanding of the yogic tradition.
2.
Asana Bible
You can expect to explore a comprehensive ‘asana bible’ that will serve as an invaluable resource throughout your yoga journey. This guide will provide you with detailed insights into a wide array of postures, including their specific benefits, key alignment principles, and important contraindications. You'll learn how each pose can enhance physical strength, flexibility, and mental clarity, while also understanding how to adapt practices to meet individual needs and limitations. This knowledge will empower you not only to deepen your own practice but also to effectively and safely guide your future students through their journeys. By mastering the intricacies of alignment and being aware of contraindications, you'll be equipped to create thoughtful, inclusive classes that cater to diverse bodies and experiences, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for everyone.
3.
Pranayama
In this segment, you'll explore various breathing techniques, each with its own unique benefits that can enhance your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. You’ll learn about practices like Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana, and Kapalabhati, discovering how they can help calm the mind, increase lung capacity, and energize the body.
With practical guidance, you'll develop a keen understanding of proper breath alignment and techniques to deepen your practice. You’ll also explore the contraindications for each pranayama technique, ensuring that you approach these powerful tools safely and mindfully. This knowledge will not only enrich your personal practice but equip you with the skills needed to teach pranayama effectively to your future students. By learning to harness the power of breath, you’ll be able to create a calming and transformative experience in your classes, guiding others to cultivate awareness, presence, and inner peace.
4.
Meditation
You will learn about the key elements of effective meditation, including posture, breath awareness, and the importance of creating a conducive environment. Alignment in meditation primarily pertains to maintaining a comfortable, alert posture that allows for sustained focus and relaxation, whether seated on a cushion, in a chair, or lying down.
Moreover, important considerations regarding contraindications will be covered, ensuring that the practices are accessible and safe for everyone. For instance, you’ll learn to recognize when a student may need modifications, such as individuals with anxiety disorders who might require gentler approaches.
By mastering this foundational knowledge, you will enhance your personal meditation practice and be well-prepared to guide others on their paths to mindfulness and self-discovery. Ultimately, you’ll empower your future students to explore their inner landscapes, fostering a nurturing and transformative environment for all.
5.
Sequencing
Discover the key principles and techniques that help you create classes that feel cohesive, engaging and effective for your students. This part of the training gives you practical tools for planning classes that flow naturally, suit different levels and work around specific themes or goals.
You’ll explore the essentials of sequencing, how to structure warm-ups, peak poses and cool-downs in a balanced way. We’ll also focus on smooth transitions, showing you how to link postures so the class maintains a steady rhythm and energy. You’ll learn how to group poses thoughtfully, preparing the body safely for what’s ahead while keeping students feeling supported and confident throughout the practice.
6.
Embodied Anatomy
Alongside learning about how the body is structured and moves, we’ll also look at some of the more common aches and niggles that can show up in yoga. With a grounded understanding of anatomy, you’ll feel more confident spotting when something might not feel quite right and offering simple, supportive modifications.
This practical approach isn’t about diagnosing or fixing people — it’s about helping you create a safe, welcoming space for students who may be managing injuries or returning to practice. As your understanding grows, so will your confidence, allowing you to guide students in a way that feels thoughtful, compassionate and respectful of their individual bodies.
7.
Physiology
As you explore a little physiology, you’ll begin to understand how the body works in a practical, accessible way and how it relates to movement, breath and overall wellbeing in yoga. Rather than being overwhelming, this knowledge simply helps you see how different systems of the body work together when we practice.
Having a basic understanding of how muscles, breath and the nervous system interact will support you in teaching safely and confidently. It will help you plan thoughtful classes that encourage strength, ease and recovery, so your students can feel more connected to their bodies without overcomplicating the practice.
8.
Ethics
The study of ethics in yoga is crucial for any practitioner or teacher, as it provides a framework for understanding the underlying principles that guide our interactions with others and ourselves both on and off the mat. Engaging deeply with ethical principles such as non-harming (ahimsa), truthfulness (satya), and contentment (santosha) enables you to cultivate a mindful practice that honors the dignity and individuality of each student. By exploring these ethical tenets, you will enhance not only your teaching but also your own personal growth, fostering a deeper sense of integrity and respect within the yoga community. As you navigate the complexities of teaching, you will find that an ethical foundation empowers you to create a nurturing environment that encourages open dialogue, compassion, and a commitment to personal and collective well-being.
9.
The Business of Yoga
Understanding the business side of yoga is important for any teacher who wants to run their own classes in a way that feels sustainable and rewarding. It’s about getting clear on your style, your pricing and the kind of experience you want to offer, while learning how to manage your money, promote your classes and build genuine relationships with your students, all without losing the heart of the practice.
By knowing who you want to teach and what makes your classes unique, you can use simple marketing tools and community connection to grow steadily and confidently. A basic understanding of budgeting, boundaries and legal responsibilities helps you feel secure and professional, so you can focus on what you love: teaching great classes and creating a space where people feel supported, challenged and inspired.
10.
Yin & Restorative Yoga
We understand that teacher trainings can be immersive and, at times, physically and mentally demanding. To support you in making the most of your experience, we will include dedicated Yin and Restorative Yoga sessions at the end of the day on Sundays, consisting of a 45-minute practice followed by 45 minutes of related theory.
This element of the course is not intended to qualify you to teach Yin or Restorative Yoga, but rather to broaden your understanding of complementary practices and deepen your knowledge of teaching methodology, embodied anatomy and the wider landscape of yoga.
Course Accreditation
At The Yoga Club Billericay, our training is led by highly experienced teachers who are true specialists in their fields and uphold exceptionally high standards of practice and education. We believe the quality of a training is defined by the depth of learning, mentorship and integrity behind it, not by a paid badge from an external body that offers no greater expertise than we already provide.
For many years, accrediting organisations in the UK and US have positioned themselves as the benchmark for legitimacy, leading studios to feel obliged to register their programmes. However, the true measure of a training lies in its content, the calibre of its teachers and the confidence and competence of its graduates, not in distant, administrative approval.
Upon graduation, studios will recognise the strength and reputation of The Yoga Club Billericay 200-hour training. In reality, studio owners value where you trained, who mentored you and how well you teach far more than an accreditation logo.
Insurance providers are able to cover you upon completion of our comprehensive 200-hour programme.
Upon successful completion of this training, you will earn the esteemed accreditation from The Yoga Club Billericay Winner of Best Yoga Studio in Essex 2022, 2024 & 2025.
